Stainless steel is thinly used, we experienced a scratch by the knobs and we haven™€™t even used the unit yet. The fan on high is extremely load and appears to be installed out of balance. I will be calling for service.

Letters dissappear with cleaning.

Bought a brand new house 2 years ago that came with several GE appliances, lower grade of GE products. The cooktop's Stainless Steel gauge is on the poorest grade, it scratches with a blink of an eye. After cleaning the cooktop every night I noticed that the letters around the knobs started to disappear, it's a hazard. Can you imagine someone not used to gas cooktops keep pressing the knob where it was supposed to be written "LITE", that person can die of gas inhalation or start a fire at the kitchen. Of course, the knobs are PLASTIC, cheap looking. I was going to attach some pictures but I wasn't allowed.

This model was given to us by the builder when we purchased a new construction home. This dishwasher lasted 4 years but the worse part is we hardly use our dishwasher. The dishwasher stopped turning on about 4 months ago. I also have a GE microwave that doesn't work either. The turntable started spinning when you open the door and then stops when you close the door. The microwave continued to work even though it was spinning but after a couple of months the turn table no longer spins when in use. Robbery! Now maybe it's not just the product but also the company as a whole. I also have a GE stove top that the finish has come off of the knobs and the high and low indicators in black paint came off the stove top after 1 year of use. Robbers! I guess I should be happy that the stove top still works and the oven doesn't have any issues. 1 product out of 4 that doesn't have an issue. GE DO BETTER!!!his stove top was provided by our builder when we moved in to our house 5 years ago. We have a cook top, oven, dishwasher and a built in microwave. This review is out of frustration because out of 4 products that we have with GE only one doesn't have an issue. Knock on wood. The stove top knobs cheap coating has already peeled off and the high low black paint indicators wore off after a year. Our microwave turntable was spinning when not in use and our dishwasher doesn't even turn on anymore. Maybe the company should do a self assess and figure out why 1 out of 4 products has issues and 2 out of the 4 are not even usable. Come on GE DO BETTER!!! ROBBERS!

Extremely poor finish quality on this cooktop..

The quality of this cooktop is extremely poor. At less than 2 years old, the finish on the knob wore off, exposing the white plastic underneath. This cooktop was very gently used by 2 adults. I had to order new knobs which cost $70.50. I was supposed to receive a gift card due to the early product failure. The card should have had $30.65, but only had $19.54. Note that the GE cooktop this replaced was 28 years old, and the knobs still looked new. We are very very disappointed with the product quality of this cooktop and the quality of the GE refrigerator we bought at the same time - same issue - the water fill drip pan finish failed and exposed white plastic in less than two years. That little piece of plastic cost $52.10 to replace.

Excellent configuration and large cooking area with nice controls and quick ignition. Power boil burners work great and are fast. Easy installation and a perfect fit. The cooktop grates will be easy to maintain with their dishwasher safe material.

I am a proud GE customer and now have a full suite of GE Applicance from fridge to washer and dryer. This cooktop does not disappoint and I was able to have 2 pull out drawers underneath which was a concern. I did have to shorten the drawer on the right side by a few inches because of the drop down connection for the gas intake valve. I felt they could have positioned it in a better place considering most people like drawers under their cooktop. My main disappointment with this besides that, and why I gave it only 4 stars is the fact that the controls are made of plastic!!! Why GE? On an otherwise high end appliance would you place plastic control knobs. The old glass cooktop that I upgraded from (also GE) had heavy and substantial metal knobs (see pictures) this one had cheap plastic. In any event after seeing other complain about how their knobs had melted when touched by a hot pan, I decided to avoid this issue and was luck enough to find compatible knobs on Amazon which purport to be stainless steel. Fingers crossed! Point is that if you have paid over $700 for a cooktop you should not have to spend an additional $50 to get decent knobs.
