Simple, easy to use features

Extremely easy to use, compared to our last microwave. The Reheat function is fantastic and I use it every day (not sure how the sensor in the unit determines how long to heat the food, but everything comes out perfectly! Installation was easy but we had a complication because our old unit was larger and we needed spacers on both sides to make it fit and look right. Once done it looks perfect in the spot.

The microwave works good But when it is installed the way the hinges are on the door you cannot have anything such as a refrigerator next to it. You need an open space of about 2 inches. This looks horrible.

We replaced an old GE with this model. Overall, I am happy with this purchase. One caveat: the touchpad is very stiff, and I need to press extremely hard. This worries me as I feel the touchpad may go sooner than it should.

Not the best replacement

This unit replaced a previous unit purchased about 7 years ago. The installers did a good job with the installation, but because the mounting bracket changed, the new unit sits higher and created a gap of about 2 inches below the microwave. We needed to hire a person to replace the tiles to close the empty space because the salesperson indicated the bracket could not be adjusted! That was an added cost. The unit doesn't not seem as sturdy as the previous one (basically the same model)! Even the turntable plate seems flimsy. It would be nice to be able to dim the clock (too bright), but I researched that that is not possible.

GE Microwave should not break down after limited use despite it being 7 years old. We use it maybe 15x's a year. To have to purchase a new one for $315, then pay $129 to install, $50 delivery +15 Fuel Surcharge. Not impressed. I expect better from GE.

Not quite what I was expecting

This microwave is not the quality I expected from this product. It runs roughly and louder than the one it replaced (which was over 10 years old). I didn't want fancy electronic features, but I really miss the auto-vegetable button from my old MW more than I thought I would. This MW is programmable, but to learn how to do it, I had to download and print the user manual. Quite the learning curve! The manual doesn't tell how to enter seconds instead of minutes. I'm just glad my husband figured it out accidentally! So far, despite being the same 1000 watts I was used to, this one seems to run "hotter" (stronger?) than my previous one. Still getting adjusted and trying not to complain too much. I'd trade it for another one if installation didn't cost so much!

This is a standard microwave. I like the preset controls. The fan is OK, just a bit noisy. There is only one surface light, and is is a yellow tone, not a bright white. Two lights would have made it easier to see the range cooktop.

Microwave dies shortly after warranty expires

This microwave is a replacement for a microwave that has been installed for 15 months. The previous unit just stopped working. In addition, I have a rental with the identical microwave that had to be replaced after 16 months. Therefore, I have 2 microwaves of the exact same model number that had to be replaced shortly after the warranty expired finished. I would expect a microwave to last a number of years, not just 1 year.

A Great Middlin' Microwave

We didn't need a microwave that was overly sophisticated, so this one fit the bill perfectly. It works great. It does everything we wanted to do, and even a little more than I had expected. It does all of it really well. There are plenty of features to satisfy almost every heating/cooking/warming condition. My only two fussy comments are: 1. The touchpad buttons require some serious pressing to activate. 2. It would be nice if the display was dimmable, as the digits are super bright. Other than that, everything has been terrific so far. It does everything we want it to do and is much quieter than our previous microwave.

Not sure the critique needs to go to GE or Home Depot. This microwave fits perfectly in to the space I have. BTW, this microwave replaced a GE Microwave that I enjoyed for 16 years. My problem is that even though the unit fits perfectly, the door only opens about 10" due to the fact that the left side of the opening is a wall. I now will probably have to hire a contractor to hopefully tear out part of that wall so that the door will open completely. Think I am going to love this MW, but it is going to be inconvenient until I can incur more expense to make it be right.

Love this microwave, except the light. It is a small halogen bulb that is yellow tinted. It gets very hot when I turn it on. I can hardly see when I cook. So, I am not using that light, and ordered some led lights from Amazon to put behind it. Problem solved. GE™€¦put some bright lights in the microwave so you can see what you™€™re cooking!

Door latch issue

I think this is a poor quality microwave. I have had the microwave less than 2 years and I am having issues with the door connecting. The microwave won™€™t start unless I slam the door. When I close it normally, the control panel won™€™t respond and none of the buttons work. It only recognizes the door as ™€˜closed™€™ if I shut it very hard. It seems like a door switch or latch issue. The microwave doesn™€™t detect the door as closed unless I shut it very hard.

Not working properly after 18 months

Worked fine for about a year (length of warranty). Then started an issue where the sound would sometimes not work (was not muted). Now it often does not work at all. Will sometimes start working again after unplugging for a while or opening and closing the door a few times. Our previous Kenmore microwave lasted over 20 years and was only replaced because it had developed a few cracks on the outside and we were replacing other appliances and wanted a match. Very disappointed in this microwave. Terrible quality. We bought all new GE appliances and I am regretting that now.
